Research Interest

My main research interests are to quantitatively assess (i) the fate and transport of environmental contaminants and their isotopes in the environment and (ii) specific aspects of natural and enhanced geothermal systems. To do so, I am using an integrated geochemical approach of laboratory experiments, field studies, and reactive transport modeling, with a particular focus on the latter and in combination with the wide range of analytical techniques available at our Institute. Recent and current projects include assessing (i) the fate of Aluminum and Arsenic during acid rock drainage, (ii) the remediation of Cr(VI) and Hg contaminated sites, (iii) thermal-hydraulic-chemical processes in crystalline rocks, and (iv) scaling issues in geothermal power plants.
