Swiss Drilling: Switzerland's participation in international scientific drilling

Scientific drilling is a critical tool in our understanding of earth processes and structure. The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supported membership of Switzerland in the International Continental Drilling Program (ICDP) and the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) enables scientists from all Swiss universities and research institutes to access any worldwide drilling target, be it marine or continental. SwissDrilling aims for a strong cooperation between Swiss marine and continental drilling communities by communicating news and upcoming drilling opportunities via this website and by organising a joint annual meeting to discuss latest developments in drilling-related science.

The coordination office is located at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the University of Bern: Flavio Anselmetti and Miriam Andres.
