Research

My research aims to uncover the wealth on information on our environment past and present (lake) sediments contain to better understand the future. My main focus is on natural hazards such as earthquakes, tsunamis, mass movements and floods, as well as recent sedimentation patterns (sedimentation dynamics in deltas). Last but not least I investigate the human impact on the environment (e.g. microplastics pollution, and the impact of river correction). To address these research questions, I use a multi-proxy and multi-disciplinary approach.
